from lewes
BY LAND
Car
Access Lewes by car via the M27
and A27 which is the main link road for the south coast. It also
has direct links to the M23 and A23 leading to Gatwick, the M25,
London and the rest of the UK.
The M25 London circular is approximately
48 miles and takes approximately 50 minutes by car.London (centre)
is approximately 61 miles and takes approximately 1 hour and 15
minutes by car.
You can also approach the town via
the A275 Offham Road (East Grinstead and Haywards Heath) or the
A26 Malling Down road (Tunbridge Wells and Uckfield).
Rail
Train travel to Lewes is excellent
and brings you right into the heart of the town, avoiding all the
inherent hassle involved with cars.
London Victoria to Lewes takes approx.
1 hour and 10 minutes. Gatwick airport to Lewes takes approx. 35
minutes. Brighton to Lewes takes approx. 15 minutes.

There are regular bus services to

Ferry Ports
The nearest cross channel ferry
terminal is Newhaven which takes you to Dieppe. Newhaven is approximately
8 miles from Lewes and takes approximately 20 minutes by car.
Dover is the main continental ferry
terminal on the south coast with destinations such as Calais, Dunkirk
and Ostend.
Dover is approximately 73 miles
and takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes by car.
Channel Tunnel
The Channel Tunnel rail link is
yet another way to travel to the continent and an excellent alternative
to ocean going vessels. The terminal in Ashford is approximately
50 miles and takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes by car.
