Welcome to Lewes, the county town of East Sussex in the South of England
Lewes nestles into the South Downs not far from its much larger and busier neighbour, Brighton and is packed with history, charm and character.
It was the site of the Battle of Lewes (May 14) 1264, boasts a Castle, a Priory (remains of), the Anne of Cleves House and many other historic buildings.
If you need a hotel, B&B, guest house or holiday let then Lewes has plenty. For a list, please take a look through my directory.
